English
Manual trigger
Starts only on an explicit request, from the webmail or the editor.
The Manual run trigger never fires on its own. The workflow starts only when you run it explicitly on an email: from the webmail, for real, or from the editor, as a test run. Use it for processing you want to decide case by case: forward a file to an expert, open a case in an external tool, draft a tailored reply.
The run carries the chosen email, exactly like a run started by Email received: every node that acts on the triggering email can follow it.

Parameters
This node has no parameter.
Outputs
main— Taken by every run you start by hand on an email.
Data produced
What this node adds to the run data, and how to read it in an expression. <step> stands for the step key: the node name turned into an identifier (see Data and expressions).
{{ email.subject }}—string. Subject of the email the workflow was run on. All theemail.…fields of the Email received trigger are available (email.from.email,email.bodyText,email.attachments…).
Example
A workflow "Open a case in Notion" starts with Manual run, followed by an Extract node and a Notion node that creates a page titled {{ email.subject }}.
Publish it. In the webmail, open an email, choose "Run a workflow" in its actions, then "Run" next to "Open a case in Notion". The dialog warns that this is a real run of the published version. A run starts on the main port with that email as email.
Tips
- On publication, the editor warns that this trigger is not armed by publishing and will not fire on its own. Here it is expected: you are the one who triggers.
- The webmail lists only published, non-archived workflows, and always runs the published version. Side effects are real: emails are sent.
- Any published workflow can be run on an email from the webmail, even without this trigger. With a Manual run trigger, only the branches that start from it run; without one, every entry branch of the workflow runs.
- In the editor, test the draft by picking an email from your mailboxes: the run is simulated and nothing is sent (see Test runs).
- A manual run is not subject to trigger conditions: the email you pick is processed as is.
