Search OneDrive
Searches files in your OneDrive and puts the list into the working data.
This node searches the OneDrive of the member running the workflow and puts the list of results into the working data: to check that a document is already filed, to link to it in a reply, or to go through the contents of a folder.
It needs the OneDrive access of a Microsoft account, shown as the Files capability in Connections. See Microsoft. Unlike Google Drive, this access covers the member's whole OneDrive, not only the files the app created.
To upload files, use Upload to OneDrive. For a SharePoint library, use the SharePoint node (resource File, action Search).

Data produced
What this node adds to the run data, and how to read it in an expression. <step> stands for the step key: the node name turned into an identifier (see Data and expressions).
{{ data.<step>.files }}—array of { id, name, mime, size, webUrl, folderId }. The files and folders found.idis the OneDrive item id,mimeits MIME type (inode/directoryfor a folder),sizeits size in bytes (0for a folder),webUrlthe link that opens it in OneDrive,folderIdthe id of its parent folder.{{ data.<step>.files.0.webUrl }}—string. Example
A client asks for "the latest quote". The node is named Find quote:
query: quote {{ email.from.name }}
folder: (list mode) Clients
limit: 5The step data reads:
json
{
"files": [
{
"id": "01ABCDEF…",
"name": "Signed quote Jane Smith.pdf",
"mime": "application/pdf",
"size": 182044,
"webUrl": "https://contoso-my.sharepoint.com/personal/…/Signed%20quote%20Jane%20Smith.pdf",
"folderId": "01XYZ…"
}
],
"count": 1
}A Compose step can then quote {{ data.find_quote.files.0.webUrl }}.
Tips
- What is searched. Search looks in file names and contents. With a Folder, the search is limited to that folder and its subfolders; left empty, it covers the whole OneDrive.
- Listing a folder. With Search left empty and a Folder chosen, the node returns the direct contents of the folder (files and subfolders). Leaving both empty fails with
node_invalid_param. - Folder. Pick it from the list, type an item id, or paste a OneDrive folder URL (a
onedrive.live.comlink with?id=, or a OneDrive for Business folder URL). Sharing links cannot be resolved and fail withmicrosoft.rejected. - Maximum results. Between 1 and 100, 20 by default.
- Test runs. A search is a read: in test runs it really queries OneDrive and returns the real files.
- Errors.
credential.capability_missing: OneDrive is not connected for the member running the workflow.microsoft.access_denied: reconnect the account.microsoft.not_found: the folder does not exist.microsoft.unavailableis retried automatically. See Error handling.
